The Technological University (UTEC) held last Friday, April 1, the launching of the Information Technology Degree, in the Amphitheatre of the Air Base "Lt. 2nd Mario W. Parallada" (Durazno). The event was attended by national and departmental authorities, UTEC advisors, Lic. Graciela Do Mato and Dr. Rodolfo Silveira, teachers and students of the university and representatives of the productive sector.
Do Mato welcomed the second generation of the TTI, a course coordinated by Lic Mónica Silvestri. TTI began in mid-2015 with about 50 students and in 2016 received a generation of 100 more. This educational offer stands out for its mixed modality (70% virtual and 30% face-to-face), and has been "exceptionally successful", said the Councillor. For this reason, she especially congratulated both students and teachers for the road travelled so far.
Aníbal Gonda, GeneXus Technology Evangelist, attended the event on behalf of the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (Cuti), with which UTEC signed a framework agreement for the implementation of lectures, seminars and other outreach activities that will enrich the training of students.
This agreement, signed in mid-2015, also foresees the creation of agile job placement mechanisms for graduates.
"If you had told me four years ago that I was going to give a talk on information technology, with an audience as large as the one we have today, I would have said: 'It's impossible'. And in fact, not only is it possible, but we are already celebrating the arrival of a new generation of students participating in this Technicatura," he said.
Gonda summarised the main characteristics of Cuti, a chamber made up of more than 350 IT companies, accessing more than 52 markets and employing more than 16,000 professionals.

Like the coordinator of the Smart Talent Portal, Lic. Viviana Martínez, Gonda underlined the lack of professionals in the sector, which in her opinion is a "nice challenge to face".
The existence of a new generation of IT students brings the possibility of creating new software and going out into the world to market it, he added.
"To be able to be in the world what we need is knowledge and communication. Communications in this country are working very well. Today we have internet from almost anywhere, we can be in the middle of the countryside and be connected to the world. What we lack is knowledge. You are in this house to acquire it, so congratulations and thank you very much.
