The Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (Cuti) organized a meeting to bid farewell to the year with its associates, during which it presented the Uruguayan Technology Industry Awards, a contest held to recognize companies, institutions and work teams for their contributions to the development and growth of the sector.

In the second edition of the contest, awards were given in the categories "Startup of the Year", "Best APP - Web & Mobile" and "Innovative Company of the Year". In the first category, the winner was the online tourism agency from Uruguay, Toc Toc Viajes, which shared the shortlist with GoDoWorks and SlideModel.

Toc Toc Viajes seeks to become the main e-commerce channel of tourism in Uruguay, with an offer focused on the sale of airline tickets, hotels, tour packages and travel insurance, both for the holiday and corporate segment. The platform, whose sales in the last four months of the year positioned it as one of the top 10 agencies in the country, plans to expand its business to other Latin American markets, from the second half of 2016.

Meanwhile, Oincs won in the "Best APP - Web & Mobile" category, competing with BolichesUY and Kindara. Oincs is an application designed to keep drivers informed about what is happening in traffic, based on data provided by users. This Uruguayan development has landed in countries in the region such as Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay and Venezuela.

On the other hand, MaS Soluciones was selected as the most innovative company of the year, in a trio that also included CodigoDelSur and Ingenious Softworks. The winning company, formed from the union of five companies, offers IT and organizational management solutions to clients in 15 countries, employs 300 professionals, and stands out for its status as a Microsoft License Solution Partner.

The integration of the shortlists was determined by a jury appointed by Cuti, which evaluated all nominations. Then, the members of the business association voted their favorites taking into account the shortlisted candidates, and from this process the winners emerged.

During the ceremony, Breogán Gonda and Nicolás Jodal, founders of GeneXus, were also awarded with the Industry Awards, given by Cuti's board of directors to personalities who have made relevant contributions to the growth and diffusion of the Uruguayan technological sector at an international level.
