La Mesa TIC: How incorporated is the use of digital tools in the daily routine of Uruguayan companies?

Vast sectors of the economy, such as financial services, e-commerce or telecommunications, fully incorporate the use of digital tools in their operations, which are updated almost daily.

But what about other sectors, such as tourism, construction or small and medium-sized enterprises?

A study carried out last year by the Inter-American Development Bank shows that some of these companies are lagging behind in the adoption of advanced technologies, despite the fact that the ICT sector in Uruguay is very strong.

This is precisely what we are dealing with today in a new edition of La Mesa TIC. What obstacles do non-tech companies face in digitisation? What plans are underway? What are the needs for the future?

We talked about this with Marina Cantera, technician in Hotel Management and Tourism, president of the Uruguayan Chamber of Tourism; Andrea Mendaro, graduate in Management and Business Administration, general manager of the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (CUTI); Carmen Sánchez, economist, president of the National Development Agency (ANDE); and Diego O Neill, civil engineer, president of the Uruguayan Chamber of Construction and director of the construction company CEAOSA.
